GPI - Description

The VSM system does not only manage incoming or outgoing GPI connections but also logic GPIs that are generated within the control system. Virtual GPIs can be implemented and used for Boolean logic operations, for the remote control of external devices and parameters, or as a criterion for controlling whatever function has been assigned. They can be triggered with a simple button press, a specific crosspoint array, from external status information, and many other sources. GPIs can indicate status from external triggers, alarms within the system, a confirmation signal, a security log on and other functions. Up to 64000 GPI Ins and 64000 GPI Outs can be handled with the GPI add-on.

Examples for the use of logic GPI/Os:

  • Crosspoint settings that follow a GPI command
  • Logic AND as well as OR gates to handle security or operational requirements
  • Audio follows Video for audio consoles
  • Emergency backup button for quick change of sources
  • Status information determined by particular crosspoint arrays
  • Switching between the first and second label on UMDs
  • Enabling red, green or yellow tally for the vision mixer
  • Setting the default vision mixer layout
  • Remote control of machines
  • And many, many, many more …
