It’s not difficult to think of many applications that could benefit from pool device management. In practice, Virtual Studio Manager is capable of auto insertion into signal paths that have been determined as ‘incompatible’. Asynchronous signals, such as those from a satellite receiver, need to be time aligned before they are usable. If synchronizers are not available for every receiver, the ones that are installed can be grouped and assigned automatically by VSM when a specific routing request is executed. If no more units are available, VSM indicated a resource confliction, without interfering with any existing routes. Other application examples include the pool management of audio delays or up/down converters.
