Tally - Description

When considering Tally, the first thing to bear in mind is that the red light indication for cameras is a fundamental and important aspect of broadcast production. Inside Virtual Studio Manager, a tally can be used for a lot more than that. Because every destination in a VSM system can be configured to send tally information back to any source, it is possible to use an additional level of indication. For example, a source that is fed via a frame synchronizer could receive a green or yellow tally. In this situation, the frame synchronizer is behaving in a similar manner to a vision mixer, and would be configured as a tally source. All tallies can be controlled, at a glance, via the matrix view, so you can easily monitor any action or status. Of course, all the typical functions required in signaling vision mixers, cameras and monitors are also incorporated in the Tally add-on. Multiple colors can be managed, so in combination with compatible hardware equipment, such as the VSM UMD series or third party devices, up to three different colors plus independent tally is available.
