There are more signals to handle, delay compensation to manage, transmission lines to deal with and, above all, all the aspects of HD/SD video, plus surround and stereo sound, need to be considered.
The VSM-system provides powerful tools to handle basic configurations, storage groups and outboard equipment. Setup changes even during transmission are easy going. Challenging projects with simulcast, surround, multiple transmission lines or various vision controls become easily manageable. OB-truck managers receive instant status feedback of every attached router, red-light, peripheral equipment and video monitoring. The handy Tally and GPI-interfaces makes complex setups easy and during e.g. testing of transmission-lines, linked audio and video switching makes operation even speedier. Recall multiple destination crosspoint with just one single step and switch e.g. the video monitoring in the control room to a second setup with just one click. Global name definition for vision mixers, UMDs and multi-viewers helps keep track of signals, and assists the operators. Even the addition of a second name label is easy. In practical terms, this means the director can see the names of individual cameramen on the UMDs in the control room, while all others still see the primary ident.
