The net

The VSM system uses IP protocol to interoperate with all peripheral units. Bus-based protocols for UMD units are interfaced for IP via VSM proxy servers. Also, third party units with serial port connections can be connected via VSM units. IP networks always have a star topology, so every unit has its own connection via a switch or router. Standard network components can be used to extend the network without limitation. Even special applications needing WAN connections can be managed in that way.
